The 23rd FLUKA International Symposium and Training Course (1st round call)
FLUKA Introduction
FLUKA is a general-purpose tool for calculations of particle transport and interactions with matter, based on the Monte Carlo approach. The software is developed and maintained by an international collaboration of scientists belonging to different institutions. FLUKA is marked by its convenience and usability, which allows users to handle complicated models, meanwhile the implementation of modern and sound physical models is always the highest priority. This software has been used in extended range of applications in accelerator shielding and target design, activation, detector design, cosmic rays, medical physics etc.
Course Introduction
The FLUKA training course organized by Lanzhou University (LZU) will be held in Lanzhou from June 1st to 8nd (registration on June 1st, leaving on June 8nd), 2024. The non-profit course intends to connect the user end directly with the simulation software development group, and make the tool serve the community well ultimately.
This course is designed for Master's and PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and researchers from university research institutions. The course will be taught directly by key members of the FLUKA development team. The curriculum covers the entire process, including software installation, writing simulation input files, and running FLUKA, with practical exercises incorporated throughout. In addition, the course will also cover other related topics, including medical physics, allowing participants to engage in discussions with the instructors based on their own research interests.
The agenda of the course is presented on https://events.hifis.net/event/1163/
Registration
Note: To ensure instructors can prepare targeted course materials, we need to finalize the list of participants in advance. The registration deadline (including payment of registration fees) is May 1st, 2024, Beijing time. Please scan the QR code on the right to register or click the link: https://forms.office.com/r/uWMLdx8vKj .
Course fees
This course is an international non-profit program, strongly supported by Lanzhou University as the host institution. The registration fees for participants are outlined in the table below, covering tuition fees, meals, networking activities, etc., but excluding accommodation. To meet the requirements of the FLUKA development team and instructors, as well as to ensure the effectiveness of the course, it will be conducted in a small-class format, with a maximum of 50 participants. We encourage you to register as soon as possible. Please note that, after registration and payment, refunds will generally not be provided in the event of non-attendance (but transfers may be allowed)
